This demo is taught for medical couriers that encounter a spill. You should have already taken our Specimen Handling and Transportation Course for the greatest understanding.

  • C.A.R.D.

**Before clean-up, don't forget to obtain the patient name and clinic info** Then: CONTAIN the spill. ADVISE your dispatcher. REMOVE or clean up the spill per instructions on the bag. DELIVER the remains to the receiving / testing facility.

  • Incident Report Form

Anytime a spill kit is used, an Incident Report Form must be filled out and provided to the courier service, and they must then provide it to their client after completing additional information.

  • Exposed?

IMPORTANT: If you were cut during the clean up or incident causing the spill, or have open sores or wounds that came in contact with the bodily fluid, you will need to be evaluated and follow protocol for post-exposure (PEP) at a healthcare facility. We recommend within 2-hours.
